Hello everyone! Welcome to week two of social distancing.
I hope you are well. Please continue to take care of yourselves. I miss seeing all of you every day but stay safe … stay home.
I am checking on the glitches in Schoology. However, because of the inconsistencies, I also have set up an email distribution list for each block. I have already spoken to a lot of you through the email. Please contact me for any concerns. Remember to email me your grades, concerns, or questions: [email protected]
I have not heard from some students, so I ask you to contact your friends, see if they have received the email, and to have them please respond to it. My goal is to have contact with each of my students … if not daily, then at least on a weekly basis. Again, let me know how you are doing.
Hopefully, you are working on your assignments. As Paulo Coelho says, “To become really good at anything, you have to practice and repeat, practice and repeat, until the technique becomes intuitive.” (an instinct) We are at that time of the school year for remediation of skills needed to successfully end seventh grade and looking to going onward into the eighth grade.
Something new:
I have signed everyone up on Freckle. Freckle is a practice website (and app) for grades K–12 that addresses standards-based skills and concepts in core subject areas according to learning level. This is self-paced. However, I can assign skills if needed. To start with, we will do the pre-tests and some self-paced activities. The following is how to login:
Block 3: MVP55M
Block 4: Z835VE
I have also signed everyone up on Padlet. Padlet is an online bulletin board to display information for any topic. The topic I am going to start with on Monday will be a riddle. The following is how to login:
Block 3: sfl1qcyq4cg … Password: Bearcats3
Block 4: miavn24xr2i3 … Password: Bearcats4
Are any of you taking advantage of the free Scholastic?
Are any of you entering the writing contests on the BVPS website? Prize is fifty dollars! If you are, let me see your rough draft, and it will count as extra credit.
How many grains of rice have you earned for a third world country? Do we need to set up a class competition?
Once again, stay safe.
